User groups in ITrack Enterprise are collections of users that share a common logical theme. Examples of groups might be:

  • Counter personnel
  • Administrators
  • Store 3 users
  • etc...

Groups can be managed in the configure groups dialog. Keeping a good set of user groups can have many advantages in ITrack. User groups can be assigned permissions in the configure groups dialog and setting values in the configure settings dialog. Sets of users can be assigned en-masse to groups in the configure users dialog.

All users who are assigned to a group inherit its group permissions. Since a user can be in as many groups as desired, this facilitates rapid permission assignment to new users based on nothing more than adding them to groups (see creating new users).

Group settings also apply to all users in those groups, allowing a setting administrator to easily configure default setting values and preferences to new users based on their group assignments.
