This error probably means that your computer is trying and failing to log into the MYSQL server. If your PC connects with the server over a VPN, make sure that the VPN software is running properly on both machines. If that's not the problem, then it's usually a good idea to make sure the MYSQL service is actually running on the intended host and that there are no firewalls blocking any necessary ports.
