- Make sure the user knows the difference between an IP printer and USB (IP Printer plugs right into the network via cat5 cable).
- Have them plug the printer into the network. If they are using DHCP(most likely), it will obtain an IP automatically.
- Have them use the printer's screen to obtain the IP address of the printer or print off the printer config page which will have its IP.
- Once you know the printer IP, Add a new printer.
- Local printer
- Create new port
- Standard TCP/IP Port
- Specify the IP address of the printer that they gave you in step 3.
- Follow the wizard to complete the printer setup.
- Print a test page, confirm it prints.
