Menus are options displayed at the top of the main ITrack window (referred to as Master). Menus can be populated with several different things:

  • User actions or commands accessible from anywhere in the software that are part of Master.
  • Actions or commands provided by one of the currently loaded extensions.
  • Sub menus filled will more menus.

Menu commands often open dialogs for further interaction or simply complete a task.

Global menus included in ITrack.exe

These menus and the options in them are part of Master, and are therefore accessible in every ITrack product, no matter what extensions are loaded.

  • File - This menu generally contains operations designed to interact with the way ITrack functions
    • Log Out - This option is available once the user is logged into the software (for user-controlled products), and it will close all currently open ITrack windows and display the login dialog.
    • Exit - This option closes the software down, and it is the same as hitting the X (close button) in the upper right hand corner of the window.
    • Print - This will print the current ITrack screen to the default printer. This is useful for printing screen shots.
  • Edit - This menu generally contains options that allow the user to configure parameters of their ITrack installations.
    • Options - This option will launch the Options Dialog, which is usually populated by product-specific configuration options. Extensions can add module-specific options pages to this dialog, such as printing settings, database connection information, or program directory information.
  • Actions - This menu contains tasks or operations that a user may wish to easily undertake. Such options usually are unassociated with any particular Module.
    • Updater - This submenu contains operations allowing the user to interact with the ITrack Updater subsystem.
      • Reset Updates - Removes all information about the current computer system's update information. This is an operation the user may undertake in order to attempt to correct issues they have encountered (especially if they think a computer is not properly getting updates). This task includes deleting the update.todo file (if it exists) and emptying out the update table for the current machine.
      • Check for updates - Checks ISoft's update server to see if the current machine has all the most recent file versions. If any are found, the Update Downloader Dialog will be launched to complete the task.
  • Help - Contains options that allow the user to view information about ITrack or undertake operations when they need help.
    • About ITrack... - Launches the About Dialog. If the user would like to view their Product Code, that can be done through this dialog.
    • Manual - Presents the user with a product specific manual, containing software usage information and instruction.

Other common menus

These are other common menus you may encounter in ITrack, but they are not included in Master, and are not necessarily used in every product.

  • Configure - This menu is normally filled with options that allow the user to launch configuration dialogs. In these dialogs, the user can define and edit objects and data that are essential to the operation of ITrack, and visiting these areas is often necessary during the first run. Proper configuration is often assumed during the operation of other screens.
